Australia is an independent nation covering the core land of Australia continent. By Its land mass it is considered has the largest country in Oceania and sixth place from world countries. It has several smaller islands. Canberra is the capital of Australia.

Education in Australia is compulsory to children between the ages of 5 to 16; it may vary depending on their states in Australia. It can be classified as   
  1. Preschool- Initial childhood Education
  2. Primary schools-Primary Education
  3. High Schools-Secondary Education
  4. Universities and Vocational Institutes-Tertiary Education


Preschool



In Australia preschool is not compulsory it is mainly for startup process for their primary education.it is normally day care or playgroups. Normally preschool is separated from primary schools and in some states it is considered as part of the primary school system. Preschool is also called as Kindergarten and it is run by government aided private sectors.


Primary and Secondary Education



In Australia children’s from the age group of 5-16 is compulsory to attend the school. Students from the age group of 16-17 are allowed to attend the industrial training, vocational training like trainees. According to the examination in 2003 the mature literacy rate that was estimated to be 99% in Australia. In 2011–12 the literacy rate of Tasmania is only 50%.

Government schools educate 60% of Australia students and remaining is studying from catholic and independent schools.


Government schools are commonly known as public schools in Australia and they allow the students to study under free quota scheme. But in Catholic and independent schools they normally implement fees on every students.


Tertiary Education

Australia has been progressing their quality of their education system by establishing their universities. It has 37 government aided universities, 2 private universities and numerous other special institutions.

There are a number of noticeable universities situated in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.Monash University in Melbourne is considered as a significant university in Australia.
